The love at first sight couple

Besides the strange personality of a childish Romeo and a clever Juliet, the book was truly interesting and attractive. I already finished reading the whole Act two and writing blog posts like this make me realized the time for thirty-day challenges. The story and language of Romeo and Juliet made it an unforgettable classic. Scenes of Act 2 were full of love and hilarious views. However, the part that I liked the most was the balcony scene where Romeo and Juliet showed their love to each other coincidentally.

The scene at the balcony was absolutely classical that both of the characters showed their love for each other without noticing that her love was there. If I were Romeo, I would never go to my enemy’s house by myself. For me, it was the behavior that made me near the hell. However, Romeo was Romeo that he wouldn’t be as timid as I was. Thus, his love for Juliet and his courage motivated him to find Juliet. Even though what he did can possibly forced him to die, he wasn’t afraid that he knew Juliet is more important than any other thing in his life. It’s Romeo’s love that moved me and remembered the scene.

Besides how Romeo performed, Juliet’s expression of her love was also impressive. Instead of that “O Romeo, Romeo, Wherefore art thou Romeo”, I like how her performed in the later sentences better (Shakespeare). If people have to say the scene that Juliet wanted to abandon her family name in case to engage with Romeo was touching, then they have to say the later scene that Juliet was swayed by considerations of gain and loss made the readers empathy. I had to say that Juliet was mature when she met her mother and said she would look to love Paris. However, she was just a young girl when she asked Romeo to swear again and again: “O, swear not by the moon”, “lest that thy love prove likewise variable", “Do not swear at all” (Shakespeare). She cared about Romeo too much that she even didn’t want a simple and beautiful pledge to gave her any dangerous to lost Romeo.

Then, in the last part of scene two, I saw a sentimental love between the young couple. From where it said, “she exits”, “reenter Juliet above”, I laughed a couple of times. It’s not just hilarious, but showed how much Juliet loved Romeo or how much she wanted to stay with Romeo. Juliet truly didn’t want to leave, but she couldn’t disobey her mother’s requirement. “Hist, Romeo, hist! O, for a falc’ner’s voice” (Shakespeare). She already missed him although they didn’t be apart yet. Also, they already talked about how they would meet again or how they would transport information. If it’s the middle of the scene moved me to remember and get into the story, then it’s the last part made me to love the story and the realistic characters.

Lastly, in act two, Romeo and Juliet finally engaged. Well, they engaged by just seeing each other twice. However, for the right person, one sight means everything.

in class writing

Juliet was showing her love to Romeo. She was asking why Romeo is "Romeo", the son of her family's enemy. Although Romeo was a Montague, Juliet could gave her right to be a Capulet for him. Because of Romeo, Montague for her didn't mean war, fights, or evil anymore. Juliet wanted to look at Romeo, understand Romeo, and love Romeo through where he belonged to, but who he was. He's just Romeo for Juliet.

The real Romeo and Juliet

Romeo and Juliet was a household story written by Shakespeare. Whatever people are in English speaking countries or not, people who were educated definitely has heard the love story of Romeo and Juliet. Whatever how young the children are, there are comic versions of the play for them to read or watch. I got familiar with the young lovers when I got into primary school, but it’s the first time to read the real play that Shakespeare wrote. I already knew the plot that two young people fell in love. Their family was enemies and Juliet was asked to marry another man while Romeo met her and they fell in love at first sight. Lastly, they died together because of the disagreement of their family and the families repaired their relationship because of the children’s death. However, when I started read the script, I have some new understandings.

I was moved by the young love of Romeo and Juliet when I first read the book. Even though I never believed love at first sight, that’s beautiful and romantic, indeed. However, after reading a few acts of the book, I sum their love in teenager’s impulsion. Well, the characters were so different than what I thought for many years. I never knew that Juliet wasn’t 14 yet and I never knew that Romeo was such a talkative and amorous young man.

I used to think Juliet was a genteel girl came from a well-bred family that she might be quiet and obedient. From the script, I new that Juliet was elegant, silent, and polite, but she’s also mature and assertive with a little bit teenage rebellion. She was polite, from where she taught to the nurse and she used polite expression, “and stint thou, too, I pray thee, nurse, say I ” while her mother said “enough of these”(Shakespeare). Otherwise, when her mother introduced Paris to her, she was silent. Since she knew she couldn’t change her mother’s mind, she said she would think about her idea but ”But no more deep will I endart mine eye” was her true feeling. I would say that Juliet was mature that she didn’t show everything that she thought and she looked more mature than a 13 year-old girl.

For Romeo, I thought he was talented and gentle before, but I know it’s not true now. When I first saw he crushed on Rosaline in the first chapter and soon fell in love with Juliet, I truly have nothing to say about him. He was so capricious and he can easily and suddenly fall in “love” with a girl. Actually, I even doubted the reason why he would like to die with Juliet. I didn’t really know such an amorous boy could end his life that easy. Also, he was so talkative that when he talked about Rosaline, he spoke a lot. He seemed soulful when he said, ”O, teach me how I should forget to think.” “To call hers, exquisite, in question more” (Shakespeare). His language would be more convincing if I didn’t know he would fall in love with Juliet suddenly. The only thing I have to saw was, Romeo was so young that his mental age should be even younger than Juliet.

Admittedly, reading the book helped me to understand a true version of Romeo and Juliet and the setting of the play. Even though it overthrown my world view for this book, it’s still fun to read. I would like to recommend others to read the book to know more about the young couples.

The fight between novel and play

During the summer break, I have read the play version of “The curious incident of the do in the night-time”, written by Simon Stephens. Then, my curiosity forced me to see how excellent the novel version would be. Both of them talked about an autism boy, the death of a dog, and a separated strange family (Haddon). The plots seemed truly attractive, indeed. I couldn’t stop forcing me continue reading the book. Otherwise, the description of characters, the scenes, and language using are still different; due to the cutting details, I liked the book version better.

First of all, the role of characters changed slightly. For instance, the role of Siobhan, who was Christopher’s teacher, changed in the play version. She became one of the main characters of the play, but she was just a normal teacher that Christopher believed in the novel. According to the play version, Christopher always listened to Siobhan; whenever he did something with confusion, he would realized what Siobhan had told him to do so. For example, when he nearly got lost in the crowded train station, there was a script for Siobhan’s sound to tell him to say, “Left, Right, Left, Right” (Stephens). There wasn’t a huge amount of information about Siobhan in the novel version and she didn’t appear a lot in Christopher’s family life, even though she was important. For example, Siobhan wasn’t with Christopher when he found out Father kill Willington in the novel. Thus, the roles of characters changed due to the demand of the play. For the fight between characters, the play version won a little more of my appreciation by taught me to understand Siobhan more.

On the other hand, some of the scenes were cutting off in the play version of the book. Since the directors wanted to make a play splendid, it cannot be too long to make the audiences get bored. Thus, some scenes must be cut. For example, there were two scenes that Christopher went to visit Mrs. Alexander in the novel; they were combined to one in the play version since the information wasn’t so necessary to be separate in a play. However, for readers, having both of the scenes would give them a realistic feeling that they were figuring out the truth with the main character step by step. As a result, the novel version was catchier for the readers to read. Of course, the novel version won this round.

After that, compare to the novel version, the play version use an easier language but shorten or hided lots of details. The play was in the third perspective that readers saw everyone’s characteristic by hearing or reading what he or she said; the novel version was in the first perspective of Christopher that we understand the world in the novel by what Christopher told the readers. The novel told the story in a much more descriptive way and it used complex sentence to describe what happened detailed. For example, the play wouldn’t tell what the back ground looked like but the novel would describe the color of the floor, or what the rooms looked like. It’s a lot easier to read the play for having a sense of what happen, but it’s better to read the novel thus they could deliberate the literature. In my perspective, I would like the novel better.

Admittedly, the novel version probably won the fight based on literature in my mind. However, both of the works were excellent and the script cannot be considered as the whole play that it should be the full performance. I believed performance of the script was as beautiful as the book. I would recommend others to read the book and watch the play since they would gave audiences or readers an unforgettable experience.

Literature and Performance

“Literature, in its broadest sense, is any written work”(Literature). Performance is a “live show or concert” “that which is accomplished”(Performance). Literature and performance are different, but they are related closely as well. Literature express the information by the using of language and people are reading them and feeling about it. Performance can express by people’s behaviors, facial expression and their mood. Performance is usually based on an excellent literature work, and performance is the extension of the literature work as well.

Literature showed people the power of language and thinking. The classics can be transformed to an unforgettable play, but it’s hard for a nice play to become a written work as well as the play. For performance, it’s using many kinds of modern methods to give people a visual feast. A good plot is important for a performance, but the media, the crews and the modern elements are also indispensible.

In literature, the author uses words to create the plot for the readers to imagine, while in performance, the director uses visual and physical things to create the whole show for readers to understand. Literature support readers’ imagination while performance shows everything to the audiences clearly.

In literature, you need one person to create the whole story line. In performance, you need one person to be the director, but you also need a lot more to hold the whole show. For me, performance is easier to understand because it’s a show that you can feel, but it also spends more manpower and recourses to satisfy the audiences. In my daily life,

I would like to read a book first and then find the medias related to the book to make sure I understand the meaning of the book. The performance versions of the book are directed pretty well, but I still like the original ones better. Also, when I watch a splendid play, I would like to read the book version as well, if it has one. I always repeat lots of time to read and to watch, and I can find new details and new points each time repeating.

For instance I have read The Merchant of Venice several years ago. However, the language using of Shakespeare was kind of obscure and hard to understand. Then, I decided to find the play version of this literature work. It helped me to get into the plot easily and been attracted by the beautiful performance. Then, when I went back to the book, I did know what would go on in my heart. Even it’s still hard to read, by comparing to what I knew from the play, I would find out what happened.

Admittedly, both literature and performance can bring people the peaceful deep in their heart. I would like to say that those beautiful works are the most precious gifts for people. I’m so glad that I have the mind to understand the works and I have the eyes that are bright enough to see. I wish I can learn to read and watch these works better in the class.

A script is obviously less than a play, while a production is more

A script is what the characters say in a play, and it helps to hold the play. A production is the result of the play, and it contains more. If people have a script, they can't just perform an excellent play by reading the words. They need people to act, and there are other expressions to be seen from the face of the characters. A play with only reading script won't be unforgettable or attractive. For a production, it's like a complete form of the play. It doesn't just has the script, but also emotions, settings and performers. Thus, I think a production is a full filled production that showed the script the best.

In the class Literature and Performance, we are reading the play and analyzing the play. Thus, we are using the script of a play and discussing or understanding the meaning of the script. We are using the script to make it a beautiful production,

Different roles of me

Hi, I’m Cherrie, a normal high school girl. It’s my third year in high school and I want to introduce myself as the first blogging of my junior year. As I have already said, I’m normal, but people need to settle in different characteristics in their life. Who I am as a student was different to the one as a daughter. Thus, I wanted to talk about my different roles in different condition.

First of all, when I am a student, I would try my best to be a talented student. I might not do everything perfectly, but I would try my best to finish all my works and show myself. As a student, I’m trying my best to gain knowledge and to enjoy the colorful high school life. In the following year, I would still be a hard-working student and use the most effort to do what I can. I wish I could learn a lot in my junior year as a student.

Secondly, I can be a good friend. As a friend, I’m reliable, at least I did what I thought was reliable. When my friends feel sad, I would support them a shoulder that they can depend on. I’m not a straightforward person, indeed. However, when I found my friends had done anything wrong, I would tell about their mistake, in a euphemistic way. I hope I can always be the important one among my friends.
Then, as a daughter in my family, I must be an obedient and sensible listener. I have a complex family that I wasn’t grown with my mom in my childhood. She always felt like she owed something. Thus, I need to comfort her whenever she felt sorry for me. Also, I need to grow up to a happy and independent girl who can look after herself truly well. However, I still want to tell her that I understand how busy she was when I was young and I with she would feel better with me.

After that, I was an athlete. Even though I’m kind of lazy, I knew the spirit of an excellent athlete. Well, I might not be the excellent one, but it wasn’t a trouble to be a good athlete. I loved sports when I was in secondary school. I played soccer as the goalkeeper and I played basketball in our school team. That was an unforgettable period of time. It told me the harvest after being exhausting and bleeding. I played golf in spring now, and I wish I participated as a great athlete.

Lastly, as a performer, I think I need to work a little bit more. Since I became kind of shy during growing up, I wanted to become a good performer again. In literature and performance class, I want to learn how to show myself to the others. Start being a good performer will tell me my power to achieve things.

According all, these are the roles that annotate myself in my life. In a new year of school, I hope people will like me.
