The returning of my Neverland

Peter Pan, written by J.M Barrie, can be seen as a part of every child’s childhood. It’s one of my purest childhood memories as well. I remembered the time that I didn’t want to grow up and I remembered I imagined if there’s one day the Peter would come to find me. The fall play was Peter Pan. It reminded me many details that I didn’t remember; it showed me a story that was a lot different to the warm one in my memory; it moved me by a moment to make me believe in fairies once again.

The last time I saw the cartoon of Peter Pan was many years ago and I even forgot the plot. The only thing I knew was Peter, the boy that would never grow up, and Wendy, the girl who lastly decided to grow. Peter Pan was brave and he always wanted to stay in his own world, with children. He could forget everything in his life then he wouldn’t feel sad about the lost of his friends. If he truly wanted to be a boy, then I wish he would always be pure, relax, happy, and young.

Then, by watching the play, I did see many details that I never mentioned or remembered before. I never knew that Tinkle Bell was such a jealousy figure. She wanted to kill Wendy when bringing her to Neverland. I never knew that Peter was kind of cruel that he wanted to close the window of Wendy’s home so that she would feel like her parents forget her. However, why does that matter? It’s still true that Tinkle drank the poison that Captain Hook left for Peter to save his life; it’s still true that Peter was touched by the moment that Mrs. Darling missed her children. If Peter’s parents did leave the window for Peter, would he refuse to grow up? Even I was touched by Mrs. Darling’s love. A fairy tale is just a fairy tale, so that it’s much more beautiful than the real life. There could be a dark side for everything, but still, we can see the beauty of their humanities.

The actors in the play were also outstanding. Mrs. Darling was kind; Peter was active; Wendy was lovely. The comparison of Mrs. Darling and Captain Hook was huge that they were present by the same person. They had the same face, but totally different characteristic. The only part that’s not so appropriate was the part when Mr. Darling kicked on the nurse. Actually, in my imagination, Mr. Darling should be a funny man since he can even live in dog’s bed and making funs at his child, but he was strict in the first scene of the play. Over all, the play was great to see.

Lastly, the play brought me back to my childhood. I did clap my hand when Peter asked if we still believed in fairy. I’m pretty sure that I didn’t want to be a child again, then I wish I can still cherish my memory of childhood and my Neverland.
